Egypt Gate ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Egypt Gate mobile application and the website egyptgate.net (together, the "Service"), through which travelers browse and book tours, excursions, and day trips in Egypt. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide and improve our booking service:
- Contact and booking details you provide when you make a booking — your name, email address, phone number, hotel or pickup location, preferred guide language, and the tour, date, time, and number of travelers you select.
- Payment information. When you pay by card or Apple Pay, payment is processed securely by our payment providers (Paymob and PayPal). Your full card number is entered directly with the payment provider and is not stored on our servers or in the app. We receive only a confirmation of payment and limited details such as the transaction status. If you choose to pay in cash, no payment data is collected.
- Account information (staff/administrators only) — the email address and credentials used to sign in to the management dashboard. Regular travelers do not need an account to book.
- Device and usage information — basic technical data such as app version, device type, language and currency preferences, and anonymous diagnostics used to keep the app stable and fast.
2. How we use your information
- To process and confirm your booking and arrange your tour.
- To contact you about your booking (for example by email, phone, or WhatsApp) and to provide customer support.
- To process payments through our payment providers.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including remembering your language and currency preferences.
- To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse.
3. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Service, including Google Firebase (secure data hosting) and our payment providers Paymob and PayPal.
- Tour operators and local suppliers strictly as needed to fulfil the specific tour you booked (for example, your name and pickup location).
- Authorities where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
4. Data retention
We keep booking information for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet accounting and legal requirements, and resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete your personal data where we are not required to retain it.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and reputable payment providers, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data at all times.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 4 and above but is designed for adults making travel bookings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
8. International users
Egypt Gate serves travelers worldwide. Your information may be processed in Egypt and in the countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this processing.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
